Pig In

Here in Vancouver the prospect of allowing backyard chickens got some residents all aflutter. In the UK they’re talking about home-raised pigs. A yard big enough for a medium-sized dog, says one expert, is big enough for Porky, although they’re party animals so you want to keep more than just one.

Link to the Guardian story, “The sale of pigs for domestic use has risen sharply” here.

Cool…now we can have bird flu and swine flu vectors together in one convenient place! What’re them rats that caused the plague? Let’s raise them too. And the smells; ahh…what perfume, what sweet smells we will enjoy. Cherry blossoms and pig shit in the spring, mixing with the sounds of squabbling hens. Instead of adding new livestock, we ought to learn to love what we’ve got: boiled wiener dogs and chow steaks.

  • That is a great entry. I really think it will turn out to be a very crucial piece of information in the future for me.
